What is the best AI for investment banking interview prep?
Compare AI investment banking prep tools by task: finance drills, spoken mocks, and flexible rehearsal. Use an original exercise to check feedback.
On this page
Choose IB Offer when you want feedback on individual finance answers. Choose a spoken mock tool when your main need is speaking through an interview. Those are different exercises. An individual answer can expose a technical gap; a spoken session can reveal how you explain your thinking when you cannot edit every sentence.
This guide is published by IB Offer. We recommend our product for graded answer practice. We have not run an independent accuracy or hiring-outcome comparison of these tools.
Which type of AI practice do you need?
| Need | Tool or method to evaluate | What to check |
|---|---|---|
| Feedback on individual finance answers | IB Offer | Does the feedback identify a specific correction? |
| A spoken investment banking simulation | Superday AI or HARDO | Does the current product provide the spoken format and review you need? |
| A flexible, self-directed written or spoken session | ChatGPT, including Voice | Can you verify the questions and feedback against credible material? |
| Judgment on a nuanced answer | A knowledgeable peer or coach | Can they explain why the reasoning works or fails? |
As checked on 6 September 2026, Superday AI describes voice or text interview practice and technical drills. HARDO describes voice or text mock interviews. These are descriptions of their published offerings, not results from our hands-on comparative testing. Check current availability and terms before subscribing.
OpenAI also documents spoken conversations through ChatGPT Voice, with account and plan limits. You can direct that rehearsal yourself. A dedicated banking product may provide a prepared workflow; that difference does not establish more accurate feedback.
Try the public DCF practice question or the investment banking question generator before you compare subscriptions. The first tests feedback on one answer; the second helps you see whether you need broader question coverage.
Where does IB Offer fit?
IB Offer fits the repeated technical-answer part of your preparation: attempt a drill, read feedback, and work on the gap it identifies. Open a technical drill and start with a topic that you find difficult to explain.
For example, a DCF answer can name every step while failing to explain what is being valued. A useful correction is to connect operating cash flows, the discount rate, and the claim on value. Once you understand that relationship, try another question rather than memorising the original feedback.
This recommendation is for individual answer practice. If you want a spoken simulation, evaluate a voice tool or arrange a human mock alongside your drills.
Beyond drills, IB Offer provides learning material, Ask IB, Mental Math, and firm preparation. Use learning for an unfamiliar concept, arithmetic practice for calculation fluency, and current employer sources alongside firm research. The public product description explains current access.
How should you test an AI practice tool?
Use the same small, independently checked exercise across the tools you are considering. This is a personal selection method, not a benchmark we have already run.
- Choose one concept you can check against a reputable explanation.
- Give a correct but incomplete answer.
- Check whether the feedback names the missing reasoning rather than simply praising you.
- Give a separate answer with one clear mistake.
- See whether the tool identifies the mistake and explains the correction.
- Repeat the exercise on another occasion before trusting the pattern.
Our enterprise-value guide and DCF walkthrough provide starting topics. Do not use one AI tool's verdict as the only evidence that another tool is correct.
Try a small feedback check before trusting a score
Use this original simplified case: enterprise value is 200, debt is 60, and excess cash is 20. Assume no other claims or adjustments. Ask the tool to review the statement: "Equity value is 280 because I add debt and cash."
Read the reference correction
Equity value is 160, calculated as 200 minus 60 plus 20. Debt is a claim that reduces what remains for shareholders; excess cash is added under the stated bridge assumptions. Useful feedback should identify the wrong sign on debt and explain it. A response that praises 280 is not a reliable correction for this exercise.
Now test a correct but incomplete response: "Equity value is 160." The feedback can ask for the bridge and its assumptions without calling a correct number wrong. Finally change debt to 70 while holding enterprise value and cash constant. The new equity value is 150.
Record whether the tool catches the error, explains the mechanism, and handles the changed input. Repeat on another topic. This is a small selection check, not a published comparison or a validated accuracy score. We have not run it across the named products.
Before paying, check current access limits, cancellation terms, what review output you can revisit, and how the provider handles recordings or other submitted information. Do not use confidential client or employer material as practice input.
You can also compare the workflow on a public valuation and comps question or a public behavioral question. If you want matched finance feedback after those reps, continue with IB Offer practice.
How do you turn feedback into better spoken answers?
After correcting the content, put the screen aside. Explain your answer aloud. Ask a peer to interrupt with “Why?” or to change one assumption. Record the exchange if you are practising alone.
Listen for unfinished reasoning, unsupported claims, and answers that become much longer under pressure. A polished written paragraph does not prove you can respond clearly in a conversation. Our Superday preparation guide can help you organise that rehearsal.
If you want to direct your own rehearsal, use our ChatGPT preparation prompts. For the full choice between courses, guides and practice, see which prep platform fits your task.
Frequently asked questions
Is the tool with the highest score the best?
No. A generous score may feel reassuring without being useful. Judge whether the feedback is correct, specific, and actionable. Scores from different tools need not use the same standard.
Can AI predict whether I will get an offer?
Do not treat a practice score as an employer decision. Hiring involves much more than a short sample of answers.
What should I do first?
Try IB Offer's answer practice, correct one technical weakness, then rehearse the explanation aloud. Add a spoken mock tool if that solves your next preparation need.
